God has also blessed our church financially, and we have paid down the loan we took out to turn an old warehouse into the building we meet in. We paid this off earlier than expected, which means that the money that we had planned to put toward the debt in the future, as well as the money saved on interest, can now be put to use elsewhere.
After fervently seeking the Holy Spirit's leading, the elders felt that the Lord was calling us to use this money to hire an Associate Pastor of Children's Ministry. Which brings us to where we are now...
I am on the search team for this pastor, and it has been a long journey. I have learned a lot about myself through the process, and had the opportunity to connect with and get to know other people from church as well. It has been a blessing!
Currently, we have the search narrowed to two very good candidates. Tomorrow night we are meeting to hopefully narrow it down to one. Tonight our church had a prayer service to ask for the Lord's leading on the process, and I am asking for YOUR prayers. Here are some ways it was recommended we pray:
- Pray for God's clear wisdom and direction for the search team and elders; ultimately for our entire congregation
- Pray for unity and clarity among the serach team in narrowing our focus to one candidate.
- Pray for God to really clarify what strengths of each candidate are most essential for our position's responsibilities and expectations
- Pray for God to work in the hearts of the candidates and thier wives so that they would clearly know God's will as well
- Pray for God to be preparing the heart of our future pastor of children's ministry
- Pray for our children and families within our church to be grounded in God's Word and engaged in serving Christ.
- Pray for our outreach to children in our community through our Good News Clubs at two local elementary schools
- Pray for God to expand our outreach to children in our community that the Gospel of Jesus christ might reach more and more children
