First contestant:
A 2000 Ford Ranger XLT.
Now to the mileages, since you have your guesses (unless you're cheating...). First the Focus:
Yep, a cool 185,827 miles. Putting 25k miles on during some years takes its toll. For the record, this has been an absolutely amazing car, and I have done no major work on it - just the routine maintenance manual jobs.
On to the Ranger:
It just rolled over to 160k miles this past week. I just drive it back and forth to work (a 4 minute commute), so that's why we've only put 10k on it in a year. It has had a trip out to Pennsylvania, and we'll use it for holiday trips to help with the snow encounters. Four wheel drive is great, just don't let the roads deceive you. Even a little flurry is sometimes enough to send you backwards into the median at 70mph...not that I would know from experience or anything...definitely not.
So there you have it. Two high-mileage cars that have served us very well so far. We tend to use the "drive it til it dies" mentality. Even with all the maintenance of two high-mileage cars (which really hasn't been that much), you're still saving money compared to just one car payment.
Talk to me when it hits 200K
