The past 3 weeks have been CRAZY-NUTSO around these here parts, but we've been having a lot of fun. Here's a bit of a recap.
This wall is in our living room. We weren't really diggin' the paneling, and wanted to insulate that wall better, so we ripped down the paneling, thin layer of foam insulation underneath, and the wallpaper the insulation was glued to.
It turns out the plaster underneath was in pretty good condition, so we are going to try just caulking the corner the draft was coming through and then painting it. First, we need to wash off all of the wallpaper glue. That shouldn't be too hard, we just need to get motivated :)
Tim had a birthday, and I got him a chainsaw.
This is his excited "I just got a chainsaw!" face. I was really glad I managed to surprise him... I was afraid he had figured it out.
The next day, he decided to get the air compressor he's had his eye on for a year. His brother, Dan, and his wife Ashley were visiting from PA for a few days (thanks for coming, guys!) so Tim thought having Dan's brute strength around when it was time to unload The Beast from the pick-up would be handy.
He was right.
The thing weighed 300 pounds. Once again, my friends... Big Time Timmy Jim Does Not Mess Around.
They're soooo strong. (bat eyelashes)
Oh, look! There's the Focus! This is how it was looking on Monday, June 18th. On Wednesday, June 20th we drove it 9 hours to Michigan to pass it off to Tim's parents. And its still runnin' like a champ. Is my husband amazing, or what?
Since we got rid of one car, we decided we could take on another. We decided to go the replica route, this time.
Just kidding. After driving this 1920's replica of a Model A to and from Tim's cousins's wedding (the used it as a "getaway" car, but mostly just for pictures), Tim decided that maybe driving with his knees against the steering wheel wasn't the most comfortable way to travel. But we had fun with it!
The wedding was beautiful, but we're really bad at taking pictures when people are moving, so I have none to share with you. The reception was fun, too. Tim entertained himself by flicking our place cards all over the table.
He also attempted to Rickroll the reception, but the DJ never got to his request. Bummer. It would have been so great.
All in all, we had a great time with Tim's family, but didn't get much sleep.
We returned last Monday, just in time for Tim to leave on Tuesday for Portland, Oregon and Palmdale, California.
Sapphire and I made the most of his absence by tackling the entirety of Downton Abbey, Season 2 in just 4 evenings. It was intense, compelling, emotional, and now I want to be a nurse, thanks to the amazing Lady Sybil.
Downton Abbey, Season 2 was on the bucket list Sapphire and I created for this summer (since she's leaving for vet tech school in August), but we decided to tackle another item as well. We were going to go on a hike on Friday, but since the forecast was 100 degrees, we decided trying the new green slide at the pool was a better item to cross off our list.
We inivited Mindy, Kaden, and Jordyn to join us.
Are these children not adorable?! I love them like crazy.
Oh yeah... the green slide was fun, too :)
Now its back to "normal life"... at least until the holiday on Wednesday.
