Meanwhile, back on the East Coast

Two weeks ago Tim and I took a trip out to Baltimore to see his brother graduate from Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University.

It took us a day and a half to drive out there, but it wasn't so bad for me, since I started reading Angels and Demons-- there is no reason to be bored while sitting still when Dan Brown is involved.  Unfortunately, Tim has sworn off all audio books and all Dan Brown books after an intense experience of listening to Digital Fortress on our 3600 mile Christmas tour a couple of years back.  So Tim had to drive while I read quietly to myself.  I kinda felt guilty about it...kinda.

Anyway, we finally got to Baltimore at 10 pm and by the grace of God found the self-parking without having to drive all the way around the block.   Since Tim lived at a Sheraton for the better part of last spring and summer, they treat him well and upgraded us to a corner room with an awesome view.

We could see the Orioles' stadium from our window, and if we had been a few more floors higher we could have seen the field and watched the game with binoculars.

We spent some time exploring the Inner Harbor, and ate some really truly seafood.

Then we headed over to Dan's apartment and helped him pack, then went on to the graduation festivities.  We were so proud of Dan!  Then we, along with Tim's dad, hung around Baltimore that night so we could help Dan move out of his apartment the next day.  It was a lot of work and a lot of stuff, but we actually made pretty good time getting him out, then made it back to PA by 8:30 ish.

We spent one more day visiting with Tim's family, and it was wonderful to just relax and chat.  Us girls also managed to squeeze in a Home Goods run, which added a bit to our load to take back home :)

We stopped at my folks' for the night and got to visit with some family friends while were there.  The next morning we headed west, then met my roommate, Emily, and her husband Tyler for lunch.

It was really great to get away and relax, and I really, really didn't want to come back.  But all good things must come to an end, and it was time to return to my adventures here in Iowa.
