Things really kicked up a notch when Tim executed a pre-meditated project. And by pre-meditated, I mean he thought about the fact that it could get done. Not so much the particulars of how it would get done.
It all started a few weeks ago when I brought that furniture home from work. While we were excited about the extra storage space, we have been trying to figure out how to maximize usage of our large, but oddly-shaped living room. The solution was to move the larger part of the sectional down to the basement to join its smaller counterpart that has been living down there for oh... maybe two years.
Yes, we had separate pieces of a sectional in separate parts of the house. We're classy like that.
Tonight we decided to take advantage of the human capital and brute strength of The Guys and execute this tricky maneuver.
The reason we wanted to move the rest of the sectional downstairs was because it felt too bulky for our living room. And by bulky I mean bulky. Really bulky. Oh-yeah-the-reason-we-never-moved-it-downstairs-with-its-other-friend-was-because-we-couldn't-fit-it-through-the-door-much-less-down-the-stairs-and-into-the-room-bulky.
So what I'm saying is, its really big and hard to get it in the door, down the stairs, and into the room we wanted it in.
Have no fear! Tim and The Guys were all over that like white on rice.
They just had to remove the exterior door, take the railing off the stairs, cut out part of the door frame, ratchet-strap the top of the header to hold our house together so the kitchen wouldn't fall down, jack up the header so the cut piece of door frame could be removed, move the floor jack, and get the couch into the room.
Big Time Timmy Jim does not mess around! And Daniel is certainly set to follow in Tim's footsteps. |
See what I was saying about our decorating skillz? We like to keep it classy. |
This house isn't going anywhere. |
No Ticos were harmed in the moving of this furniture. |
Wait...how's this supposed to help us get it through the door? |
Good news-- the couch got through the door! Also, Phase II was completed tonight...moving the nice sleeper sofa from the guest bedroom upstairs down into the living room. (yes, Dad and Sven, this is the sleeper sofa you helped us moved up there. Please don't hate us.)
Maybe tomorrow I will get the living room cleaned up and take pictures for you. Ha. Good luck with that.
In other exciting news...Pumpkin Week is next week! I will have a whole week of pumpkin recipes for you to enjoy (if I can get my act together and write them all up).
How did you spend your Friday night?
Well...my Friday night certainly wasn't near as productive as yours! Although that would depend upon who you asked. To Anna it was very productive. She and 7 girls from ballet went to a performance of one of their dance teachers--it was her 'farewell performance'--in downtown Phila. They were all decked out in their high heels and dresses with fancy 'clutches' (note I didn't say purse because I was informed their purses were indeed clutches:). They took the train into the city and walked to the theatre. Unfortunately the show was to end at 10 and the train came at 10:15 and 11:15 pm. There was no way they would make the 10:15 pm train and there was NO WAY i was okay with letting 8 pretty young girls roam the streets of Phila for an hour. So what to do?? Dad and I drove into Phila at 10 pm to retreive 8 ballerinas! Note we had to take the van and 'peewee'(the focus) to pick up the crew. Oh and did I forget to mention I fed all 8 ballerinas before I took them to the train? Well good thing they are ballerinas and not football players! They did not eat very much so we had a ton of food left over. So to answer your question, we spent Friday evening transporting 8 ballerinas from Phila:).
ReplyDeleteI am very anxious to see pictures of your living room, sooooo...you better get cleaning! haha Does that mean we get to sleep in the living room now when we come visit?
Looks like Tim is taking on a young apprentice! oh dear I hope Daniel's poor mother has been duely warned! :) I love you Tim and yes, you have A LOT of do-it-yourself skills you can pass on to the younger generation! Good for you!! Love you and miss you both! Happy Saturday!!
Hi Sister! Becca says that we need to have more exciting Friday nights apparently.
