New Addition to the Taylor Family!!!

Lately I have been realizing how much I like being dinks... just me and Tim, and no one else to worry about or be responsible for. Its really nice, and really easy to be selfish. In fact, I worry that Tim and I will become too comfortable in our flexible lifestyle with a modest expendable income.

Birthday Girls

This week 3 very influential women in my life had birthdays - Kelly (aka "Sister"), Kelly (aka "Kapowski") and Peg.  To honor them, I would like to explain how each of them has impacted me in the order in which they entered my life.

The First Small Home Project: Contact Paper

When Tim and I first looked at our house, we felt that it was relatively well kept-up and the decorating was not atrocious; however, when we moved in, I felt a little bit differently about it.  My list of to-do projects grew exponentially.  But the very first thing I knew I needed to do to make this home my own was to put nice, new clean shelf-paper in the cupboards and drawers.  We found some really attractive contact paper at Walmart that seemed like it would go nicely with our kitchen and dishes.  I was all excited about this paper, and Tim tried to warn me, but I simply brushed him off... it was a nice striped pattern.

First big home project and the event that started it

Wednesday I (Tim) took all the locks on the house to get re-keyed. There was one of the garage entry doors that had been painted, including the lockset. Said door was also painted shut. I didn't need to open it to get the deadbolt out, so I just popped it out and took it along with the others to the locksmith. He ended up having to trash it because there was paint all thru the lock cylinder. When I got home, I realized I had to replace the actual deadbolt as well, cuz it was a different action type than the previously painted one. I tried to open the door, but as previously found, it was painted shut. After hip chucking the door a few times, I realized that the bottom was free, but not the top half. Putting my shoulder into it, I quickly found out that this was a door with a painted-over plate glass window. Not cool. I shattered the entire thing, and got a nice 3-4" cut on my left shoulder, along with an assortment of other cuts and scrapes.

The Life of the Married & Childless

In the past few months I have come to realize that all of the married cousins on my dad's side of the family have blogs... except me.  This prompted me to consider starting my own blog, but I held back because I didn't have cute kids to write about and post adorable pictures of.  So I started to think of what I could write about, and I said to myself, "Self... you could write about not having kids." Since we are at that point in life that so many people are frequently jealous of-- Dual Income No Kids (DINK)-- I will write about that.  Through the counsel of many wise people, we have decided to make the most of this part of our lives, taking advantage of resources such as time, money, and energy that we will not have so much of when we have kids, so we will blog about our adventures while childless.
